Chamber Member Profile: Closet & Storage Concepts

January 3, 2018

It’s a new year, and if you’re like many of us and feel the need to get organized, you might benefit from the help of Closet & Storage Concepts in Norwalk. The company designs, manufacturers and installs custom organization systems. They can work with a variety of storage areas, from closets and laundry rooms, to pantries and garages. Anywhere you need help organizing, they have a solution.

Karen Bradbury owns the Closet & Storage Concepts franchise for Connecticut and Westchester. They also cover Putnam and Dutchess Counties as well as New York City as there are no franchises there. She opened Closet & Storage in Norwalk in 2012 after years in the corporate real estate, most recently as Vice President Global Corporate Real Estate for Nielsen. She was back stateside, after living in London and consulting, and wanted to get back to her original focus as an interior designer. “I loved the corporate world, but I was trained as an interior designer and wanted to get back to what I love, but also use my corporate experience as a business owner as well.”

Bradbury says that they tend to see spikes at certain times of the year. “We definitely see a seasonal aspect to the business. For example, at the beginning of the school year, moms want to get organized so we tend to do more mudrooms. In the fall, when people start to think about putting their cars back in the garage for when the weather is bad, we organize more garages,” says Bradbury.

But by far the most popular spaces they design are closets. “Every one enjoys a walk-in closet and I love to do a fantastic walk-in closet or mudroom,” says Bradbury. “Working with a larger space, you can get very creative.”

Closet & Storage Concepts expertise has been noticed. The company recently won a HOBI (Home Building Industry) award from the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Connecticut in the Best Walk-In Closet category.

While the majority of Closet & Storage Concepts work is residential, they do commercial work from time to time. For example, small businesses that need storage organization such as law firms or hair salons are ideal for the company.
