Dorcia Carrillo knew from a very early age that she wanted to be a lawyer. It was a second grade trip to a courtroom that sealed her future career choice. “We visited an appeals court and it was so majestic and beautiful that I knew then that I wanted to be a lawyer,” Carrillo explains.
While she doesn’t often get into a courtroom, her law practice in White Plains sees plenty of legal action. The firm handles all business and corporate matters from business formation to contract negotiation to due diligence. “We’re especially interested in helping small businesses with issues such as dealing with contract disputes or supplier relations,” says Carrillo. With her background in international business trade, the firm can help companies do business internationally, providing such assistance as export licensing, foreign direct investments, and customs classifications.
Carrillo started the firm a year ago after working for six years in the legal department for a local defense manufacturing corporation. The Norwalk resident decided to use her corporate experience to help other businesses. She says it’s the clients that make her glad she made the move. “I love working with a variety of clients. I understand the challenges that growing businesses face and am passionate about finding workable solutions to their legal problems.”
In addition to her corporate clients, she has done pro bono work with the local chapter of the NAACP and volunteers for the Alzheimer’s Association in her free time.
