Making sure customers are safe is the top priority of Security Solutions Inc. Owner Jamie Orvis describes the company as a life safety company, supplying alarms, access control, fire and carbon monoxide systems as well as monitoring services to homes and businesses. Security Solutions also provides all the latest home automation innovations like remote system arm/disarm and thermostat/lock/lighting control.
Security Solutions is a full-service security company that custom designs, installs and offers 24-7 monitoring via their UL (Underwriter’s Laboratory) central station. “We do all the monitoring ourselves, never subcontract out to another company,” says Orvis. “Our monitoring center is 5 diamond certified (the only one in Connecticut), which is the security industry’s ‘Good Housekeeping seal’ of approval, meaning that our employees have a higher level of training and excellence.”
The family-owned business was started in 1979 by Orvis’s father who had been in the business for over a decade. Orvis has been with the company for more than 35 years. According to Orvis, many of his employees have also been with the company for decades. “Among our employees, we have hundreds of years of experience,” says Orvis.
Security Solutions, headquartered in Norwalk, serves Connecticut and Westchester County in New York, with about half residential customers and half commercial. “We have clients with one bedroom condominiums to those with one-million-square-foot commercial operations – and everything in between,” says Orvis.
The greatest testament to their customer service is that, according to Orvis, much of the company’s growth over the past 38 years has been through referral. “Our high level of service is really the key to our success, and it has paid off because our clients have given us the most meaningful reward and that’s good recommendations and referrals.”
That hands-on and customized care is really what sets Security Solutions apart from the do-it-yourself security companies. According to Orvis, DIY equipment is of lower quality and lends itself to vulnerabilities. Plus, many of these companies don’t have their own customer service and monitoring services. When things go wrong, it’s good to know who is watching out for you, says Orvis. “We’re here and we care. We take pride in providing life safety solutions and stand behind what we do. When your customer tells you, ‘you saved our lives last night,’ it’s an awesome, amazing feeling.”
