Chamber Member Profile: The Silk Touch

December 5, 2016

If you’re looking for a no-fuss way to decorate this holiday season – or year round – consider enhancing your office or home with floral decorations or plants that won’t wither or wilt or trigger allergies. The Silk Touch provides fine, permanent floral arrangements in any style, contemporary, vintage or traditional. They are all nature-inspired using the finest quality long-lasting botanicals available in today’s market.

“Our florals are of high quality not craft store finds,” says Silk Touch owner Danna DiElisi. “They are all painstakingly hand prepared and painted. It takes one hour to create a rose, for example. They are amazingly beautiful and lifelike – very hard to detect from a fresh flower or plant.”

Silk Touch Services

The Silk Touch offers custom floral designs for both residential and commercial interiors, corporations, hotels and restaurants, for example, or for special events, parties and weddings. Some of their corporate clients have included G.E. Capital, Oxford Health Care, Doubletree and Hilton Hotels. They often work with interior decorators and their clients to provide beautifully designed floral décor for homes, as well as trees and foliage arrangements. Arrangements can also be purchased on a rental basis so that they can be changed frequently to suit the season. If you’re the handy type, you can also purchase floral components at the Silk Touch’s retail location in Norwalk and make your own arrangement.

“Our creations provide the visual drama and delicate beauty of fresh flowers without the short-lived presence,” says DiElsi. “The artistry and attention to detail in the arrangements can transform any interior, brightening the space with colors, and adding warmth.”

Holiday decorating for home or office is another way clients can take advantage of The Silk Touch’s offerings. “Whether it be a prominent display at your front door, a lush decorated garland for the stairway, seasonal arrangements or even decorating your holiday tree, we offer a decorating service which has grown tremendously in popularity over the years,” says DiElsi.

From Fashion To Flowers

DiElsi’s background in fashion can be seen in the beautiful arrangements. She graduated in fashion design from Traphagen School of fashion in New York City. So the move from fashion to flowers, marrying color and style, was not a stretch for DiElsi. Before starting her own business, she worked at Buds Beautiful in Norwalk for several years getting great training in the art and fundamentals of floral design.

The Silk Touch started out as a part time business for DiElsi when friends and acquaintances noticed her talent and began asking her to create pieces for them. What began in her basement 20 years ago, is now a flourishing business with a retail space at 5 Main Street in Norwalk.

As part of the Norwalk area for many years, community involvement is important to the company. It has shared work with many city organizations for their events including The Norwalk Symphony, Lockwood Mathews Mansion, Keystone House, The Norwalk Library, and St. Paul’s Church to name a few.
